Globetrotting at Home-Asian Night

My family is spoiled with eating good food at home. I must admit that I kind of like it because when I cook for the three of them I feel like I am really taking care of them. At home, unlike at the restaurant or a client's home, I can take  my time and cook at a leisurely pace. I make sure that we have dinner together at the table at least three out of five weeknights. If John is working late then it's just me and the kids, but still together as a family.

At home, I am always seeking ways to introduce new cuisines to the kids. I came up with "Food from Around the World". It is fun and keeps everyone interested in our next "foodie destination". Tonight is was Asian night complete with homemade spring rolls and dipping sauce.

 You can use almost any combination of veggies. Tonight, we used cabbage, carrots, green onions, & bell peppers.

The Scoop

 I have  many stories & pics I will just start from anywhere! I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of great people. Some are famous and some are not but they were all great experiences.

Here's the scoop:

I can proudly say that I have converted Jamie Foster Brown to  a bread pudding lover. When I first offered it to her(my White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Whiskey Hard Sauce) she said oh no I don't do bread pudding. I asked why. She gave the same answer that almost everyone does-because of the soft, mushy texture. I laughed because I get that answer all of the time. I said well I can guarantee that you will like this because it is not too soft. So there it was, the moment of truth. Just as always, reluctant at first, then an instant true believer. It was a pleasure to meet you Ms. Jamie.

Another Culinary Adventure!

Although I cook for a living I love to go out for some great food and have fun. I am a BBQ Fanatic!
This past Sunday the kids and I went to one of our favorite BBQ joints in Atlanta-Fat Matt's.
I thought for sure that since it was gloomy and kind of cold outside that this place would not be busy. Boy was I wrong! The line was trailing outside of the door as usual. As always, it was so worth the wait.
Here's what we ordered:
Ribs
Macaroni and Cheese
and Lay's potato chips for John Baby. Yes I said potato chips! YUM
